The Madras and Environs Album is held by the South Asia Collection in Norwich, UK. It consists of 78 watercolours painted chiefly by Mary Symonds, with some paintings by her sister Elizabeth Gwillim and possibly by Elizabeth’s husband, Sir Henry Gwillim.
The South Asia Collection acquired the Madras Album in 2007 when it was being auctioned off in London at Christie’s Exploration and Travel Sale.

The album contains many images of different locations around Madras and the surrounding region. Qianru Wang has mapped some of the images to their corresponding locations.
